Susan Malove Esquire Attorney at Law OrlandoSusan received a B.S. in Public Relations from the University of Florida in 2006. While an undergraduate, Susan was involved in several extra-curricular organizations and held leadership positions in organizations benefiting Children’s Miracle Network, Guardian Ad Litem / Court Appointed Special Advocates and other local Gainesville charities. In addition, Susan was an active journalist while fully enrolled at the university, having several publications in the Independent Florida Alligator newspaper, including front page new stories, and serving as editor of a campus Greek-life newsletter sponsored by the Dean of Students Office.

Susan received her Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2009. As a law student, Susan received certificates in Trusts and Estates Practice and Outstanding Achievement in Pro Bono Work. Susan also served as a teaching assistant in Legal Research and Writing as well as Appellate Advocacy courses. During the summer of 2007, Susan studied international business law as well as white-collar crime at the Université de Montepellier in Montpellier, France.

While in Gainesville, Susan served as clerk to the Honorable Circuit Judge Robert P. Cates, and completed an internship at the Alachua County Guardian Ad Litem Program. Susan also volunteered at University of Florida’s Student Legal Services office, and Three Rivers Legal Services focusing on landlord tenant disputes, civil small claims and misdemeanor criminal offenses.

Prior to joining Patten and Associates, Susan worked as an Assistant Public Defender in the Ninth Judicial Circuit for four years serving as criminal defense counsel to those accused of felony and misdemeanor offenses in Orange and Osceola counties. During that time, she served as lead counsel in more than thirty jury trials.
